Pretty obvious

Male preference could have negative impact
New studies commissioned by the U.N. Population Fund predicted that as males outnumber females, because of pre-natal testing to determine the sex of fetuses and subsequent abortions of unwanted females, a surge in sexual violence and trafficking of women could occur.

Well, der.

Hardly a newsflash,is it Steve.

When one third of the men in China and one third in India begin to realize they will never marry or have children, it's a pretty safe bet that the social shifts won't be for the better.

Women and kiddies (of both genders) might not always have a civilizing effect, but they certainly "serve" an irreplaceable social purpose.
