Message to monty (everyone else can ignore)

Can you please tell CL to stop his "I support Trump...but not really" act?  He does the same with Gateway Pundit - calls Hoft a dimwit who is only right 1 out of 20 times, yet still continually and gullibly re-posts every Clinton conspiracy theory that Hoft posts, and only occasionally covers his endorsement with "well, if this is true..."   His self created land of obfuscation is bothering me...

And - you might also note there that Snopes has looked at the wildly implausible RWDB meme that Clinton needs a doctor actually ready to inject her at any moment by her side.   You're dealing with folk not playing with a full deck, you know?

Yes, well I had a lash at something like this today (10:56am in the Aug 10 OT) before seeing your message.

CL, and a few other Cat denizens like Tom, have taken the position that they are sort of kind of but not really but yeah pretty much on Trump's side, but only while he's insulting the left and other people they hate. This is perfectly understandable if you get where CL is coming from.

Like most of the American religious right, CL is an old partisan who has given up caring about principles, morals and beliefs. He and the vast majority of the evangelicals spent a little bit of time in the primaries being Cruz-curious, but ultimately all they care about is being on the bully's side, so they have all fallen in line behind a twice-divorced adulterer who stands accused of child rape and mass fraud. Trump's personal peccadilloes would have been more than enough to disqualify him in their eyes in the old days, but they don't care about that now.

All these wizened warriors want is to vanquish their enemies, but it's just too late, the war's already over and they lost in the most comprehensive fashion. SSM is the law of the land over there and is inevitable here. No, we will not deport every Muslim living in a Western country, they are here to stay. Religion means almost nothing in daily life to the vast majority of people, especially the young. Drug violence and crime is vanishing among millennials, and incarceration rates for them are miniscule compared to the 90s. There is just not much of a constituency at all for people like CL any more. The world has passed them by.

Thus I can not summon much anger for CL, really. He's a poor old bastard whose irrelevancy is staring him in the face, like srr and Tom. CL is smart enough to understand what has happened, even though srr may not. They can try to create their own reality on the Cat, but it doesn't take much to pop that bubble of theirs, and then they're left with nothing but bile.

They are moving through the stages of grief for their entire worldview. They may eventually go gently, even if they don't Go Gently, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I think that's a pretty accurate take on things, monty. If you'd thrown in their loss on the matter of climate change denialism, it would be perfect (although whether they are smart enough to even see that is very questionable.)

Amongst Catholics, you see the counter reaction to societal changes in the yearning for, and retreat to, Latin liturgy. (I don't think CL has found a Latin mass to go to, but he's clearly sympathetic.)

Climate change is one issue where they've had some success in gumming up the works, to be fair, though it is only temporary. And don't get me started on the hilarity of CL's attitudes towards the Pope!

At least Infidel Tiger is not afraid to call out the idiots. Now there's a man with whom to have a whisky.

IT needs to stop with the schoolboy level sex or sexuality based insults; the casual misogyny; and the blind allegiance to Friedman. Apart from those issues, he is smarter than the average Catallaxian, although that's as far from a tough competition as is imaginable.

My only quibble with IT is the occasional sprinkling of racist epithets. No, it's not edgy or hilarious, just déclassé. Other than that, he's a laff riot, and often right on the money.

Yes, he can be witty. Too much of a naughty boy, though. I think he genuinely liked my participation, too, so he has some taste. :)

As for Fisk - I have just never bothered trying to follow him. He reminds me of a 1980's era Python fan who would sprinkle every single conversation with a Python reference which you have to know and understand to find its relevance, but the effect becomes so tedious you just can't be bothered asking for an explanation if you can't see the joke.

Fisky is just a performance artist all the time. No one can stand those for very long, it's exhausting. It's fun for a while as you figure out the point he's making, but after a while you yearn for normal conversation with a human. I've seen that type before, sometimes they settle down and act like a regular person but not always.

He always shuts up when I start talking about his LaRouchite tendencies though, LOL. And that recent failed attempt to distance himself from Hanson by attacking Roberts was high farce.

m0nty you should ask how they would have been if Clinton had have welcomed her children from three different husbands!!

As for Tom & cohenite - what angry, bitter, charmless characters. I recently stumbled across the latter's Facebook page - he's a fitness fanatic by the looks, working (I think) as a legal cost assessor. That should keep him safely away from interaction with humans, and that's best for all concerned. As for Tom - what immaturity in "Leftard" insult, and enduring bitterness for (I strongly suspect) some slight Fairfax might have done him 20 or 30 years ago.

Tom just screams subeditor to me, a frustrated journo who was never good enough to graduate from the subs desk. And there's no local jobs in that now either.

Another old white male grumbling on the scrapheap of globalisation and technological displacement. The Cat is full of them. I'd feel sorry for them if they weren't such drongoes.

Oh good Lord..JC is going on a fly fishing holiday to New Zealand? I thought he breaks out in hives if he gets more than 40km from a inner city? He reminds me of Woody Allen's line that Nature and him are two.
