The Republicans and Russia

There's a very clear and understandable account by Peter Beinart at The Atlantic on how the Republicans came to be split on the matter of Russia.   How Trump and his pals react to the Republicans in the Senate who have approved an enquiry into Russian interference in the election will be interesting to watch.

What I found interesting is that both Democrats and Republican camps were hacked however only the Democrat were 'leaked'.

Yes. What is also frustrating is that a large proportion of dumb Trumpkins will be thinking it is about Russia hacking Hillary's private server, and hence think "she deserved it".

and what exactly is wrong with the pivot towards Russia?
1) they're not communist anymore
2) Russia has more right to the Ukraine than China has to Taiwan
3) they're busy killing Islamic nutjobs for us while we're (or at least the US) were arming the same nutjobs to take over Syria

Putin sure acts like a commie even gets rid of 'enemies like the commies,

Why has anyone the right to Taiwan. Whoever said China had a right to it? Why cannot Ukraine be simply Ukraine?

Russia and Syria have killed way more Syrians than ISIS. If they had concentrated on ISIS no-=one would complain. A pity Soony now has no need for facts or even understanding of issues involved.

Yes: your sympathies for such a "Russian pivot" would have a lot more credibility, Jason, if it wasn't the ruthless Putin at the helm of it.
