I can't believe no one has commented to say: a) cute possum b) neat to get a photograph c) that is the tidiest under deck I have ever seen in my life. Don't you have spiders in Oz?
Well, maybe "deck" was a bit misleading. It's the balcony off the upstairs level, so you can walk underneath it. In fact, below the possum is the window into the living room, and I think the kids noticed a furry tail hanging down from inside the house.
We think it is the same young possum that a week or two ago kept falling off its mum, who was under another part of the balcony. I wasn't home when it happened, but my wife was able to pick it up and put it back on the mother, but it fell off again once or twice. (Maybe she the mother was pushing it away, we're not sure.) Anyway, this is a good place for a possum to live.
By the way, I'm always amazed at how ugly North American opossums are compared to the Australian variety. We kick their butt in the cuteness stakes, to use an Americanism.
