Ah, I hope that in retirement, like a reverse Jim Cairns, Sinclair Davidson and his best buddy Berg can be found sitting at a card table at some outdoor market selling their latest self published screed about how important it is that (in their case) the ABC sees its comeuppance.
They may be admired by the more obnoxious, meat-headier parts of the Coalition and the wingnutty internet for their pointless campaigning on this, but it's a ridiculous campaign that has every chance of helping ABC loving Labor votes, rather than helping those who want to abolish it.
When Rupert dies and stops funding the IPA, perhaps the campaign will slow down anyway.
pure laziness from Davidson yet again.
ReplyDeleteRadio National is not commercial at all.
News Radio is not commercial
ABC local radio foes to local emergencies such as bushfires when it occurs. Can you imagine any commercial network doing that.
even ABC Fm is not competing with commercial radio.
Notice too only assertions are made on bias .No evidence at all. Typical Davidson. Lazy sod.
no wonder Catallaxy appeals to equally lazy sods.
Blinded by ideology. No politician, except of course that libertarian one, will ever support removing the ABC as a public broadcaster. Has Davidson become so irrelevant that now he can only scream at the choir? Seems to be the case because while other economists are given air time on the ABC and elsewhere Davidson can't even get traction in the newspapers. He has become irrelevant and he knows it. I imagine Sky News etc will have him but to get the same coverage on Sky News as on Insiders for one showing he would have to be there every night for months. When a professor has to start self-publishing it is time for that professor to get another life.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I didn't mean that he is currently self publishing - the Berg/Davidson book on privatising the ABC is from the Connor Court publisher that specialises in right wing nonsense (it publishes Plimer's climate change denialism, for example.)
ReplyDeleteMind you, it's hard to imagine a book devoted to explaining how to privatise the ABC is going to sell much more than a self published tome anyway.
I was just imagining a future in which he takes to self publishing.
Obviously sinkers is not one to suffer from embarrassment
ReplyDeleteBerg and Davidson's self-published book has just been quoted in the Liberal Party Federal Council meeting.
ReplyDeleteOoh. That must the 120 people who bought the book. Or were sent a copy.
ReplyDeleteI also note that the actual Liberal MPs are already denying it will be adopted as policy.
