The fact that he has lung cancer should be no excuse for not observing that Rush Limbaugh has been a pig of a broadcaster for decades, and a major player in corroding the tone of mainstream conservatism in its American (and to some extent, Australian) incarnation to one which is every bit as obnoxious as any extremism in language and tone to be found on the Left. It's worse for the Right, though, as it is meant to be part of a Christian landscape where they are supposedly taught to be better than their political enemy.
It should be an embarrassment to the Republicans that he was endorsed so early on (I had forgotten that his fandom goes right back to Ronald Reagan), and nothing he did - no name calling, no factually wrong claims, no false rumour endorsed, no racist or misogynistic "jokes", ever caused serious estrangement from their circle.
Should he be cut some slack for some rhetorical hyperbole if he is an "entertainer"? No - you can only hide before the clowning for a limited time: everyone knows there is genuine sentiment behind (say) racist tinged jokes if they are repeated often enough.
I see that he has been married four times and has no kids. (Why are so many prominent American conservatives so bad at keeping spouses, I wonder as a half rhetorical question.) He should be swimming in money, though - the internet says a net worth of half a billion dollars. I hope he leaves a lot of it to charities, and not just political ones.
But overall, politics will only benefit from the ending of his continued corrosive influence.
Rush Limbaugh is Jim Morrison of the doors. In both his incarnations he has been in line with the deep state. Both as a hippie corrupting the youth and undermining the peace movement, and as a conservative who can be relied on not to spill the beans when you have obvious false flags like 9/11.
ReplyDeleteThe deep state has to have a waiter for every table. So Jim as Rush came as a deep relief since he seemed to speak for people who didn't have a voice before. But before 9/11 it was important to have all their ducks in a row in every type of media. They buggered his voice box so he couldn't jump into a song and be recognized. But he could still talk. Same with the fellow who became Alex Jones.
I could easily cure Jim/Rush of his lung cancer if I could only talk to him. Too easy because he has essentially unlimited funds. My current patient cannot detect her cancer any more unless she pushes very hard. And that was without any budget to work with.
What have u been smoking, Graeme?
ReplyDeleteI also just want to say that it's more than a tad disturbing to hear that you have found someone who trusts your cancer treatment recommendations over actual doctors. Selling yourself as a cancer treatment expert sounds like an excellent way to get into trouble with your "patient's" family when she passes away, too.
Not everyone is in rebellion against the scientific method Steve. All global warming catastrophists hate the scientific method. If you follow the three planks of cancer treatment, sword, fire and poisoning (surgery, radiation and chemotherapy) you are in open rebellion against science.
ReplyDeleteScience matters Steve. The old values of truth, reason, the scientific method.... these things matter.
So when you see building 7 fall, that implies a world different than the world that we were taught existed. And in that world, to get away with building 7 and the rest of the false flag, you need to have a pre-existing control of the media. The one thing follows the other.
Bette Midler was Momma Cas before they laid on us this ludicrous ham sandwich story. And her job was to undermine sexual morays. Not on her own of course. But she couldn't do those sexy songs as a fatty.
Easy to save Jim Morrison. Too easy. He's got so much money he could drink 10 litres of deuterium depleted water every day just for starters. He could make up that cash with a single broadcast.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is that Jim got hooked on oxycotin. That screwed with his hearing and it would have reduced his immune function. But with his budget we could have him fixed up in months. Not years.
nah Jim Morrison is dead and buried in Paris
ReplyDeleteYou have evidence for that dopey? Since when do rich navy families leave their kids buried overseas?
ReplyDeleteHe could be holidaying with Elvis
ReplyDeleteThe ugly side of the right wing catholic blogosphere seem to love him, Steven.

I don't profess to understand the adoration of cranks like Limbaugh and Trump by these people.
Geoff, what are you doing reading Fr Z's blog? I used to look at it sometimes, but I think his profile has diminished somewhat.
ReplyDeleteI put a lot of the current populist politician attraction down to the last hurrah of losers in a culture war (which, curiously, in some respects - such as including climate change - they unnecessarily started themselves.)
No he's Rush Limbaugh. But he could indeed be in touch with Elvis since this is a common feature of the entertainment business. The CIA is also the CEA. Central Entertainment Agency. Although in the sixties most of the rock and roll singers of California came from naval intelligence families.
