What an appalling hypocrite

Grow up, Gillard. No victim ever becomes Prime Minister | Herald Sun Andrew Bolt Blog

Andrew Bolt has the appalling gall to criticise Julia Gillard for sometimes getting upset with her demeaning treatment at the hands of  certain parts of the internet.   Yet the most personal and appalling site for attacks was clearly Larry Pickering's - both his own columns (claiming to be outing details of her personal life which were utterly irrelevant and which Bolt would know cause offence to any politician) and the comments which would follow them.  Did this stop Bolt from referring his readers to his site?  Nope.

Bolt has become an incredible and morally bankrupt hypocrite, full of self pity over legal problems caused by his own mistakes, who thinks he has a grasp on science better than thousands of scientists, and reinforced in his beliefs by the likes of the IPA.

Why do you think it is acceptable for Gillard to make all sorts of nasty claims about the private lives of Coalition politicians such as labelling Abbott as a woman hater?

Surely Gillard's corruption as a lawyer for Slater and Gordon in establishing illegal slush funds and robbing widows and orphans is an important point of discussion. Ms Gillard likes to lecture Australia on issues of 'moral' import so it is therefore only natural that her own predilections for sleeping with married men be a subject of discussion within this broader debate she has initiated.

What rubbish about "misogynist". I agree entirely with the dictionary writer - the term had come to be used as something less than "hating women", more like a strong form of sexism. Conservative twits ran to their dictionary and said "that's so cruel to say he hates his wife and daughters" - it was a stupid argument that was nonsense from the word go that this was the meaning of the speech.

It is further bulldust and sexist to concentrate on her sex life as relevant to her prime ministership.

Who are you, by the way?

You can shift the goal posts all you like (a natural Lefty tendency) but Gillard attacked Abbott for being a misogynist - something which was a lie and a smear on both his public and private lives.

Why then is Gillard's public and private conduct then off-limits? Her sexual proclivities were hardly secret.

If you want to apply the label 'misogynist' to Abbott then the term 'slut' can be equally applied to Gillard.

Yeah, sure. Because we all know that who Gillard has slept with was a vitally important and relevant issue to how she was doing her job as PM.

Abbott did a bit of political grandstanding over how appalling it was that she was "supporting" a man who was sleazy and sexist in private, foolishly echoing Alan Jones with the "died of shame" bit too.

Abbott's past sexist statements were directly relevant, and no one sensible took to use of misogynist in the context to mean anything other than sexist.

But back to Bolt. Do you remember how annoyed he was that a magazine profile said he had been engaged to a woman, when he denied there had been an engagement?

I couldn't even work out why this would cause offence to Bolt, given that the ex fiancee (from memory) wasn't even particularly critical of him, but he crapped on about it a lot.

Now, he says that Gillard should be made of tougher stuff. (Even when he says, after telling anyone who has missed it, that Pickering is "offensively personal", but it really deserves reading anyway.)

He's an appalling hypocrite.

oh dear I dealt with the misogynist debate ages ago.

Catallaxy types just do not understand the definition of a word is a moving feast. sometimes it is fast and at other times it is slow.

woman for example is used as a noun and an adjective but man is never used as an adjective!
