Country accountants are a menace to society

Why do accountants turned politicians from country electorates (such as Barnaby Joyce and this Rennick character from [groan] Queensland) think they know better than the CSIRO, NASA, and God knows how many professional scientific organisation?:

Try evidence you silly old fools.. You think it will hurt you, but it won’t.

Of course country people know this to be a lie. Since they don’t have the heat island effect. I have actually looked for CO2 warming. You haven’t.

Update on CO2 warming: I thought I'd found a scintilla of it for the last five years in the satellite data. I was surprised by this and so I wrote a blog post suggesting that it might be a false positive but for now we might have to concede that there has been a scintilla of warming found.

It turned out that political pressure had been placed on the people compiling the graph and they'd tipped it up a little. Instead of the last five years being in the middle of the error bars they had tipped it to the top of the error bars. So no warming was found. There is the possibility of a warming effect still, in that solar cycles 23 and 24 were weak as measured by number of sunspots. So it could be argued that there is a tiny bit of CO2-warming lurking there, since really we might have expected a stronger cooling trend by now.

But Tony Heller compiles a lot of honest graphs but only using a sub-set of the data. And this shows something more substantial. It shows that the edge has been taken off afternoon heat. Which is kind of what you would expect. So it could be that the extra CO2 is cooling a scintilla, or warming a scintilla. ....... if we are talking about average temperature. But we have a clear indication, in my view, that its taking the edge off in the afternoons where we would expect the daily maximums.

So thats the state of play at the moment in my view. And its a very informed view because I've got rid of the bad data, only looked at good data, and looked pretty hard at it. But I wonder if I could persuade the excellent and super hot Zoe Phin to see if she can prove me right or wrong in these contentions. I might try and ask her later.

So now that you know that this is what you get when you deep-six all dishonestly compiled data can you please stop bullshitting us Steve. Or else look into these things yourself.

As John Houseman says to the main character on the paper chase television series:

"Do the work Mr Hart .... And you won't have to do the dance."

We know we cannot rely on them because they rig the figures. Its not fucking okay to use rigged figures Homer. Do you understand? You stupid old man?
