Bioethicists up for anything

BBC News - Three-person IVF 'is ethical' to treat mitochondrial disease

Honestly.  Is there anything bioethicists or IVF doctors can't talk themselves into?

we must be living on different planets. my impression of most bioethicists is that they are waste of space Luddite fools who want to regulate almost every new technological advance out of existence if it disturbs their aesthetic ideas about a fixed humanity.

a good decision for once.

If you've got problematic mitochondria, I suggest you just don't use them to reproduce. It's a wasteful use of technology that's going to do nothing to improve the lot of humanity as a whole.

OK - I should correct that. If you've got dodgy mitochondria, I suggest you don't reproduce, full stop.

Mitochondria are a cornerstone of our health. Why is there even a moral issue here? By refusing this technology we will be condemning thousands to painful lives and premature death.
