Barrie Cassidy on Tony Abbott today:
Whether it be repairing a damaged relationship with Indonesia,Nothing impresses me about Tony Abbott, including his rush to embrace security issues as something that might be his saving grace in the public eye (as he thinks happened to Howard.)
responding to the Malaysian air crashes, standing up to Russia, or
confronting the brutality of the Islamic State, Abbott has been
exemplary.
And let's be honest - there has been nothing particularly brave about any of his responses to security issues - not like Howard and his gun law reform. Rather, they been boiler plate responses, and not always hitting the right mark, but sounding just a bit too incautious and hairy chested. Also, his personal popularity rating has not increased since these events happened, so it seems to me the public is not entirely convinced as well. (Although, I suspect, the more dangerous international situation may account for some votes going back to the Coalition in polling, regardless of its leader.)
So I beg to differ with Barrie, and the only good thing about his column is it again makes a mockery of Andrew Bolt's moronic repetition "the ABC is out of control" (because they don't agree with him on politics.)

If there's one thing the Abbott government has done well in, it's foreign policy
Stopped the boats
Made Indonesia our little bitch
Strengthened our relations with japan.
About to do the same with India especially by treating them with respect over the uranium exports.
Led the world in handling the Mal flight.
Possibly also leading the US in terms of what to do with those muzzomanic in Iraq.
You're an idiot.
And by the way, good thing you've banned Homer Paxton.
good thing JC is a fan of yours Steve!
He runs away when he is shown up!
Yeah, sure, JC.
The uranium deal and free trade stuff was all done and dusted in 12 months, was it? In fact, they were worked on under Labor, and the Coalition wants to paint them as their accomplishments.
We also don't know how good the trade agreements are - some concern the Libs rush things with some possible adverse consequences.
In other foreign policy news, you overlook that the AG wants to prosecute a lawyer involved in the disclosure that the Howard government undertook commercially motivated bugging of East Timor. What a shameful, police state like action that is.
This government nauseates me the way the PM and ministers rush ADF leaders to do joint press conferences. (And that they use fake "operational secrecy" provisions to keep the public ignorant of how badly boat people are being treated by government employees so as to deter others. This government acts and looks the closest to a military junta that this country has ever seen.
Go back to the dumb asses of Catallaxy and pass this message on, will you?
No No Steve,
you are going the Sinclair Davidson route.
If JC wants to make a fool of himself.Let him.
Speaking of Sinclair, I see he is tweeting about the Jennifer Marohasy/Jonova/Graham Lloyd fantasy conspiracy of the BOM sitting back and saying "here, that site's record is too low - let's just bump it up a degree and no one will notice".
What a fool - and a nasty one at that, either believing himself, or encouraging others in the belief, that scores of scientists and technicians have been spending years just making things up.

The Howard government set the ball rolling, it was then stalled for six years under the Liars party and the current guys a finalizing it. Yep that's a win for the Libs, you moron.

The trade agreements are fine. If you think there's a problem then tell us up about it, otherwise STFU.

Small stuff, no one gives a shit.

Lol
Shut up Homer. Go suck up to that fat Greek idiot you;re always talking about like he's a hero... "The kouk", commonly known as the fat greek.
wow JC how many fat people are there at Catallaxy you hypocrite.
At least the Kouk can read the ABS stats which is a damned sight better than anyone at Catallaxy. that is why he made fools of you with regard to smoking!
The deal with India is good for business but bad for foreign relations. Australia has allowed India access to uranium without India having to sign an NPT which can only mean that Indias intentions are in breach of any NPT ie they intend to use it for weapons. Australia has intentionally weakened international law which is not a win for real worldpolitik.
For JCs benefit the deal with Indua was initiated by the Gillard govt
rog
And also for JCs benefit it was Fraser who established that an NPT be a condition before export of uranium to any country was allowed.

You're saying this with a straight face with Homer Paxton and Wodge as your commenters?
