Those who do bother engaging with you show no goodwill, use cringeworthy attempts at dismissive humour instead of genuine debate or rebuttal, live in political/cultural fantasy worlds that are so ingrained they'll never be broken out of them, and often suffer psychological issues ranging from obvious immaturity to (I'm pretty sure) actual personality defects. It is pointless trying to score points against people like that.
All points made before, but after watching some exchanges you have, I just feel compelled to make them again.

Yes Steve, and it's plainly obvious that what you say is correct, so anyone reading it would make the same conclusions unless they are also one of the hopeless deplorables.
It's not about scoring points. It's about convincing the lurkers that these people are extremist loons. If I wasn't there, that fact might be obscured.
But also it's fun to torment them, I admit.
"It's about convincing the lurkers that these people are extremist loons."
Isn't that self evident?
Left to their own devices, they can sound quite rational. You have to confront them with the contradictions in their positions. Then they get nasty and devolve into baying baboons. Most of their schtick is based on them being the normals and everyone else being extreme, so when they get reduced to babbling insults it undercuts most of their world view.

Really? More like - sealed off in their own reality.
