I think this is a scene from Helen Dale's Kingdom of the Wicked:
[Actually, I saw that movie, with my father, surprisingly, at the cinema when it came out in 1973. He didn't mind it, too, despite its somewhat hippy vibe.]
Years ago on her blog Helen stated she gave up writing because there is no money in it. Then to law, an unfinished PH.D. now another novel ... . It goes back to something I commented here long ago: it is as if she has never found a home. Or perhaps she likes the variety. I can relate to that, I don't know how people do the same job all their lives, that would drive e batty.
What the Left did to her here in Aus was atrocious. To this day there are Lefties who will take every opportunity to lambast her, as if she should never be forgiven for past follies.
She's a continual fascination for me, John, because I can't see what her admirers see. (I can see what her detractors see, so to speak, for reasons I have explained at length at a previous post years ago.)
I find her terribly dull as an essayist as well.
I am almost tempted to read her first novel to make my own judgement over it, but I don't feel like benefiting her financially.

I hope the novel goes well for her.

It looks like she has gone for same the angle as The Hand: write something to stir up the passions. Haven't read her books and never will.
That picture was actually from Jesus Christ superstar the film version of the musical from the ?70’s
Anonymous: yeah, I thought people could work that out for themselves.
