As explained at Real Climate, even some of the first climate models, when properly assessed (which means, taking into account when they got emissions and some other forcings wrong - which is not something you can blame them for) they have been pretty accurate.
Actually, I find the lengthy Twitter thread explanation by co-author Zeke Hausfather, which starts here, is better than the Real Climate post at explaining what they did.

Its not a dishonest war. Its just reality. The models these clowns come up with don't front-test, they don't back-test, they don't even calibrate, so they don't work. Whereas Jeremy Corbyns brother Piers models always work because they are based on science. Its just a case of science versus science-fraud. Piers Corbyns model is based on solar and lunar periodicity and it works. The science fraud models, by maths-boy 101 types who hang out in Broadway and know fucking nothing about anything, least of all science .... their models never work. They cannot even calibrate them against honest data. Thats how useless these clowns are.
They were useless when I was looking into them and they have never changed.
If these models work, why not make some money forecasting for farmers, traders and businessmen? They don't work, they never worked, they always got it wrong, and the people who make money forecasting, EVERY MAN AND EVERY WOMAN is a non-believer in this science fraud.

We know the accurate models. They are the ones that people pay money to get the information from. So they can speculate on the markets better or know which day to plant their seeds.
