It's pretty amazing that we all had to wait for this very clear explanation of how the fusion research community loves to have the public confused (or actually misled) about where they hope to get to with the fantastically expensive ITER project.
Watch it all - I think that it's actually a Right wing politician in America could legitimately call a scientific scandal, were it not for the time they spend on imaginary scandals:

Fusion is so easy that chickens can practice it. Not only chickens but fertilised eggs can practice it. You hook onto these second stringers.
While fusion is easy its not an energy spinner as what has been mandated. But fission is so easy we can have fission from stable heavy metals. Not a big problem.
You see this lady is a mainstreamer who operates at only one level of rebellion from the insane mainstream. Sure she's an intelligent girl. But her head is full of misinformation. Fusion isn't going to be a money spinner except for those types of fusion (eg where you add a proton to Boron and it splits into alpha particles and creates a huge electric current) that are really fission in disguise.
The main problem with these dummies is that they are trying to do fusion through concentrated thermal energy which is irrational. Thats not how a chicken does it. This is not how the earth does it either. The earth does it with capacitance. With strong electrical pressure. So even the best fusion research project (the one run by Eric Lerner) is barking up the wrong tree.
This wrong-way Corrigan phenomenon has been engineered by people who don't want us to have cheap energy. Eric Lerner's project should be altered and I think it can then create great results. Every other fusion project is a scandalous money pit as you and this girl conclude. Sometimes your instincts are pretty good but always for the wrong reasons.
Eric Lerners project should work with a change in direction, but its really fission in disguise. Plus the hydrogen bomb is not a fusion bomb. Thats misinformation. Neither is the sun run by way of fusion. All evidence prevails against this thesis.

Now I've seen her whole video I am reminded that she is really rather good. She's one of the few people who can do critiques on accepted paradigms while rejecting all the great alternatives that are out there. So she gets two cheers from me. But if you want to know what is really going on you need better sources. You need full-blown auditors. Not loyal opposition. Always good for a brainy girl to have a great figure as well.

Birdy is saying that the explosion of bullshit we have seen in physics since they outlawed the aether has a number of goals to it. One of these goals, about third on the list in importance, is to do with obscuring the true nature of fusion.
Fusion is easy, dead easy, so easy chickens do it. So easy chicken eggs do it. So easy it happens just above the clouds all the time or when you use an arc welder without an argon shield. So dead easy in fact that ten year old boys had a toy to do it in Dad's garage about ten years ago. So easy it happens spontaneously behind comets when they get to the inner solar system.
Fusion is so easy its happening all the time continuously near the earths centre. Fusion is so easy but its no energy source unless it precedes fission.
