By way of explanation as to slow posting:
* Work had been very busy and distracting for quite a few months now, and it's not going to get much better for another month.
* American politics has gone over an edge which makes it feel there's no point in talking about how bad it is - it's just too obvious and leaving (I think) a lot of people like me feeling kind of speechless at the spectacle.
* I have an idea or two for longer posts I want to write about some "big picture" stuff about the state of the world, but am having trouble finding the time to get some older books I want to reference off my bookcase, where they hide, somewhere...
Anyway, I also apologise for being a bit slow to delete the mad anti-Semitic comments made by Graeme Bird in recent posts. (Tim, I'm surprised you had to ask who it was!)

I got confused, Steve, as I wasn't sure whether Birdy was the subject of an ongoing ban. And his habitual stylistic tic was always overenthusiastic capitalisation. Hi Bird.
I don't have 100% proof that it's him - but come on, I would bet a non crucial body part being excised from me that it is him!
There is no way to blanket ban a single commenter on Blogger. (There is on Wordpress and other platforms, but he just used to creates new identities to get around it when he wants to, anyway.) The only thing I could do is made all comments subject to my moderation before publication, but no one would ever bother commenting then I reckon, if they can't see it published for hours or days...
So I told him somewhere in comments in the past that he can make comments here and they won't be deleted as long as they are not referencing Jews in any way whatsoever.
Stephen, it is shown he is anti-semitic in anything he writes. It is better to simply ban him
