A ridiculous situation

If they are talking about tariffs they are set up in such a way as if running surplus trade with the US is a sin. So if you reduce your trade surplus with the US by buying more US stuff then you are likely be able to get your tariff level reviewed and reduced. They are overtly set up that way. They will certainly cause much damage at first but if their reciprocal status is actually carried out in practice they may actually work out okay.

They have added another 20% to China to punish them for getting oil from Venezuela. No good can come out of that. It’s an opportunity for a black market and it’s insanely cruel to Venezuela.

I wish people would stop believing that this is part of some grand plan. Trump doesn't think like that which is one reason why so many of his projects have gone into liquidation. He's not the smartest tool in the kitchen, closer to the bluntest implement in the garage.

Well it is part of a grand plan. The plan is to reindustrialise. That’s pretty grand is it not? And it’s definitely a plan.

If you are saying he will fuck it up sure that’s some fancy soothsaying going on. And there is a good chance of him fucking it up. But that’s you making a prediction. It’s not a valid argument that it’s not grand or a plan.

Matter of fact he is already fucking it up. 1. He is diluting the reciprocal conception of the plan by the extra loading he is putting on China and 2. He is at the absolute brink of war with Iran that would strip all of the resources that could be used for industrialisation and push harder towards trade deficits (if that is indeed possible without a crash.)

But it’s bad analysis to deny the reality of a grand plan just on the prediction that they will fuck it up. They look like they are sowing the seeds to destroy their grand plan already..

The problem with reindustrialisation is that it takes years, the USA already has a huge labour shortage and he has crashed immigration, and even if companies return manufacturing to the USA those factories will still be sourcing overseas components because that is how manufacturing works these days.

I didn't say he was fucking it up, I'm arguing he doesn't know how to plan. A goal is not a plan, a plan is how to achieve a goal and he doesn't know how to do that. The errors you point out demonstrate his planning is astray.

Essentially we're agreed and the semantic issue regarding goals and plans is almost moot. Another factor to consider is that as Shapiro points out in a recent video the USA does plenty of manufacturing but factories are increasingly populated by robots not people. I don't think Trump gets that but what he does get, and he is very good at this, is knowing the right rhetoric to keep his base happy. The Democrats are useless at that, pushed woke far too much, and their arrogance in thinking they could continue to con the USA and the whole world that Biden was all good upstairs was atrocious. Thus I appreciate why Trump won so convincingly because the Democrats betrayed the public with woke and BS about Biden.

The other stupid thing the Democrats did was the abject failure to control the border. Just plain nuts. Borders are integral to national identity and when they laughed at Trump's claim about criminals using the porous border to send criminal gangs into the USA they became exposed because that was happening. Their accusations of racism and xenophobia were arrogant scare tactics that didn't work.

The US doesn’t have a labour shortage that’s fake figures. If something takes a long time you have to start yesterday or at least by next Wednesday.

I would prefer if nine tenths of the effort was in other areas….. cutting spending, blocking hot money in, blocking other certain classes of incoming investment, running a low dollar policy, Slow money growth but not via high interest rate …… and on and on…….

You don’t want to worry about robots. Robots are a space saving strategy more than a people saving policy. Imagine robots maintaining robots maintaining robots and it soon becomes clear that this is not powerfully efficient when the natural world is reproductive.

The problem with Trump isn’t with an inability to plan. He is not property investment. He is property development and that’s all planning.

The problem with Trump is he is a rabid Zionist. And that screws everything up from closing down departments (Zionist power centres) reforming banking (I think that goes without saying) Avoiding corruption (like with his son-in-laws plans for Gaza) And staying out of wars ( the red harvest of a particular interest group).

He has pissed away already billions of dollars bombing Yemen. Worse than a crime it’s a mistake. And he is on the brink of war with Iran.

So he may fuck it up and probably will. But it will be because he is ideologically against the majority of the human race.

Jeffrey Sachs has just talked to The Duran. He goes over some of the technical issues to do with running trade surpluses.
