It had to come to this with sleeping too few hours and with a bad diet ……. Both for many decades. So he is no longer fit for office or he soon won’t be. It would be better if he stepped down for Vance. The very clumsy way he handled tariffs and his weakness against Netanyahu really shows that his mind isn’t all there any more.

It was based on reading the transcripts of his speeches. Ya know, things like "water destroys magnets". Or that immigrants are taking 100% of jobs, actually more than that. Or his decades long rant that tariffs are paid by the exporter. Or when he was challenged with the remark he made "I have one of the best memories in the world", and he replied I don't remember saying that. Clip played. What we are seeing now is consistent with his past behavior. He hasn't declined, he never rose. At best a middling intellect.
Dude he made mincemeat of all competitions in 2016. It was a fantastic performance. Like the effortless way he stomped Jen Bush.
That level of cunning and reading the room was amazing. He was also a great comedian. The 2016 election seaso. Was so funny. That takes a lot of brain power.

The 2016 competition was a low bar but I take your point. Rhetorically he is skilled which isn't surprising given his years of high public profile and being on the Apprentice program. Otherwise his cognitive skills are not exceptional.
In 2020 I couldn't make left wingers realise Biden was losing it. The same problem will happen with right wingers. Signs of Trump decline have been evident for years. Trump has long demonstrated loss of narrative flow and jumping from one subject to the other. Those are signs of working memory failure, which often happens before memory failure. There are articles now arguing Trump has lost it but those are from left wing sites.
Wait for the midterms. The problem for Vance and the GOP is that at present Trump is the party and with him removed their support might collapse.
More broadly there is something terribly wrong with USA politics. The Big Beautiful Bill does not address the deficit. An analysis I saw the other day claims interest payments constitute 1/6th of the budget. Also, Trump's EOs violating the constitution and no-one challeging him on that. His EO barring some legal entities and their clients from federal properties is a disgraceful abuse of power obviously designed to intimidate any entity that wants to challenge the administraiton. The disgraceful way the Democrats concealed Biden's decline betrayed the nation. Their ridiculous spending spree on renewables adding further to the deficit. Their refusal to seal the border was absurd. The question now is will the GOP do the same with Trump? I don't think so because Trump won't shut up, won't be controlled, and still believes he is the smartest man in the room.
It is interesting that Ivanka has long bowed out of any political interests. Previously she was very active there. I wonder if she has seen the writing on the wall and recognized her father is losing it.
