Sounds like he has good instincts. The last thing you want to do is excite your body with too much caffeine when you are sick. Plus green tea has ECGC in it that helps zinc get inside cells. Its got another substance that helps you relax a bit. But it does have a bit of caffeine in it. Not excessive amounts one might think. Some green tea. Hot lemon juice. Los of lemon. Raw or medicinal honey. Something with zinc in it. I'd want tonic water for the quinine, but they put these ghastly sweeteners or sugar in it. Last thing you want is sugar when you are sick. Honey is the shot. But not sugar.

I suggest you should get your wife to get hold of that really strong medicinal manuka honey. I'm not saying any one thing is good on its own. But the manuka honey with the other gear should take the edge off pretty quickly.
