I've never really known what Hilbert Space was, exactly. But I find myself somewhat (or perhaps more accurately, slightly?) better informed after reading this article in Qanta:

I probably should read that article but to me a Hilbert space is just a vector space with the necessary structure (inner product an completeness) to enable people to do quantum theory in a sensible way.
